OSGi Runtime of mBS Telematics SDK
The OSGi Runtime contains ProSyst's own implementation of OSGi Core and Compendium specifications (Release 4.2). This implementation has been used in a significant number of embedded devices and offers advanced features such as:
- Resource management for separate bundles or a set of bundles, lazy activation / deactivation of bundles
- Advanced configuration policy
- Advanced security policy
- Improved logging framework
- Localization support
- Close integration with JVMs like Websphere Everyplace Custom Environment JVM (J9) by Microdoc
- Support for many additional JVMs
- OS utilities
mBS Telematics comes with a set of additional components which form a powerful and easily extensible stack for building telematics products. The most essential of those components are:
mBSA - a native application with pluggable architecture. Specific plugins are provided that monitor and manage the OSGi framework, OS resources, OS native processes, etc.
Vehicle Interface - allows applications to send and receive vehicle data without deep knowledge of the underlying vehicle architecture. It provides a manufacturer-independent Java/OSGi interface that processes the raw CAN data and provides it to the applications as primitive Java objects. It is built on top of an open source library (LLCF).
Reliable Local Database for storing application data.
Support for Serial and Parallel Interfaces for integration of external devices connected to vehicle unit.
Integration with enterprise systems through Web Services.
Support for telematics applications with rich GUI interface. Support for graphical libraries such as eSWT, AWT, mGUI, and various application models (e.g. eRCP and remote desktops).
Management Components – support for remote device management (OMA-DM) and content downloading (OMA DL and OTA download)
The OSGi Runtime is well integrated with the underlying operating system and provides reliable resource management, fault control, and recovery mechanism.
