CTC and Toko Electric co-develop Energy Management System

ProSyst products selected for the terminal devices and for remote management and provisioning system

Tokyo, January 4th, 2010 - ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation ("CTC") and Toko Electric Corporation (“Toko Electric”) have co-developed a remotely controlled Energy Management System based on OSGi technology, the leading global standard for open service gateways. The system aims at companies with high energy consumption such as large companies, factories and data centers. The system will be launched in spring 2010.

Energy Management is aiming at increasing the efficiency of energy consumption and at generating significant cost savings by reducing energy usage. In order to realize this objective, the energy management system manages and improves devices and facilities based on detailed measurement and analysis of the energy consumption of electric power and gas. Recently, the demand for remotely controlled energy management systems which do not require large scale central control systems is increasing. In this market environment, CTC and Toko Electric started to discuss how to best meet customer demand in March, 2009 and have now completed the development of this Energy Management System.

This system consists out of an Intelligent Network Controller developed by Toko Electric and a client management server system developed by CTC. After the installation of the terminal devices, it is easy to remotely update, add and delete the customer's measurement and control applications. Thereby, it is possible to implement the plan of a service manager. The software on the terminal device is OSGi based and the terminals are connected to an OSGi enabled server. Thus, the system is highly scalable and versatile.

In October 2009, CTC signed a reseller agreement with ProSyst Software GmbH headquartered in Cologne, Germany. ProSyst serves over 130 corporate customers around the world. For the terminal devices CTC uses the OSGi implementation provided by ProSyst. On the server side the ProSyst remote management and provisioning system was selected.

Initially, CTC and Toko Electric will focus their sales activities on companies that operate offices, factories and convenience stores at various locations. In the future, the business will be expanded to the home consumer market and to energy utility companies.
