Overview
Embedded Desktop products provide environments for user interaction with deployed end user applications, based on the OSGi Service Platform and mGUI library. Depending on the target production field three types of desktops are supported - Telematics Desktop, PDA Desktop and Smartphone Desktop.
Key Features
- Applications can share common logic between each other
through shared components and libraries.
- Allows installation, configuration and remote management
of application components and libraries.
- Allows manufacturers and operators to adapt their devices
by installing components on demand, even after production.
- Two models for application delivery by the operator: push
from operator and subscribe/download by the end user.
- Seamless integration of applications with the platform
look-and-feel and the native environment, easy access to
applications by their corresponding OS menu items or shortcuts,
utilization of the operating system virtual keyboard, etc.
- Optimized system performance, including fast booting time
and minimized consumption of system resources. There is
no need to start all applications when the system is started.
The resources which will be used (class loading, heap) for
an application will only be allocated when the application
is started. This allows a better resource management, since
the resources are available when the application is not
used.
- Service Browser (an application for user subscription)
and a number of sample applications such as news, weather
forecast, album, etc. are already available.
